Fishin' Dogs Fishin' the Big Hole, First Day of Spring
Right out the box, Annie the wirehair pup--who now knows about ice shelves and ice water but didn't right out the box--trotted down the steep bank to the river, danced out on the ice shelf and fell in...not exactly panicked but obviously not exactly comfortable with the situation either she managed to get her front paws up on the ice and pull her front half up but it took my courageous effort, e.g. belly crawl across the shelf grabbing her by the collar and hauling her out saved her wet, somewhat cold ass...Gale then bet she would not go anywhere near the ice or the river but as you can plainly see, undaunted she went right back at it...The fishing by the way sucked, I did not even land so much as one whitefish, although about two hours into it did get a tug and although it seemed like a perfect day for fishing midges, there were no bugs to speak of and only two small risers all afternoon...so yes I did get skunked and yes the dogs did have fun, which I guess is about all we wanted from the expedition in the first beginning...
